One of the most asked questions about our steel frame Rook One series is "What are the biggest tyres I can put on it?" or "Does it support disc brakes". The Rook One series is a phenomenal platform to build a kickass city bike, either for fixed gear riding or commuting. But it was never designed as off-the-road bike. Tracklocross? Well thats another story all together 😅
The constant questions about tyres and discs got us thinking...
Lets figure out something that'll be:
A) FUN
B) Excellent to ride
C) Purpose designed for the road less travelled
After multiple frame prototypes, and sourcing the various parts and components, Rook is proud to introduce SCOUT.
So what is Scout?
At the heart of it, Scout is a steel gravel bike featuring a 650b wheelset. We wanted the ride to handle great in the city. That's where our love for cycling was born - from there we tweaked and experimented to get a solid mix between commuter bike and gravel bike. We like to refer to this class as City-Cross. Scout handles exceptionally well on gravel and non-road riding.
The WTB Byway 47 tyres (standard on all Scout Builds) make inner city riding feel like you're on a smaller road tyre because of the almost slick centre surface. When you get into the dirt, the grippier outer tread gives you heaps more grip, especially in the turns.
You'll find the slightly relaxed top tube allows for a much more comfortable decent coupled with the 4130 chromoly tubing, the frame has a natural shock absorption that lets you ride comfortably for longer.
Scout is available in 1 paint job - Dirt Grey.
Two frame sizes at launch Medium 50cm and Large 54cm
We've hooked up an 8 Speed Microshift Groupset on the geared version...
Aaaaand, its available in a Single Speed version too!

I have the Rook scout 11 speed and want to change the chainring from 42tooth to 36 or 38, is it possible.

Good Day
Can the Scout be setup with a handle bar and brake leaver similar to the One?
